What inspired us to volunteer? Was it the sounds of the towns fire sirens and horns?

Some fire departments think they don't need them...
Many residents think pagers negate the use of them.....
The truth is, audible alarms are still required by law as a back-up system
ISO insurance requires them for quality ratings.....
AND They supply a safety alert notification to the community
that volunteers are enroute to save life and property... It could very well be yours!
A pager does nothing for the community as a whole!

DO NOT INSTALL ANY ELECTRONIC SIREN or MODULATOR SIREN. THEY SOUND LIKE CRAP!!!!!!
The Mechanical Federal Model 2, 3, 5, 7 and 10's are the best sounding, best looking sirens ever made and they will run for 100's of years if kept rust free....
Many FD's on the Island such as, Mastic Beach, North Patchogue, Blue Point, Dix Hills and Hampton Bays installed Modulators and everyone HATES them!
The sound of electronic modulator sirens scare people! They look dumb and sound like shit...
Don't make that same mistake!!!!!
Keep your venerable Federal Mechanical siren up and running today!!!
